Modalities

The following list of basic massage applications addresses some of the most common needs I encounter when working with my clients. That said, each individual I work with receives customized attention for their needs. Using the sum of my experience and training, I can offer a combination of modalities to address the unique needs of the individual.

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage employs a combination of modalities, including:

  • Swedish

  • Deep Tissue

  • Sports

  • Myofascial Release

  • Lymphatic Drainage

Therapeutic modalities are perfect for those who are dealing with pain, but who are not receiving massage therapy as recommended by a doctor for a specific medical condition.

These same modalities are also for you if you just want to relax and unwind.

Medical Massage

This type of massage uses techniques which are mainly focused on treating musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues.

Make a medical massage appointment if you have been referred by a doctor or physical therapist to receive additional therapy for a specific medical condition.

Pregnancy Massage

Also referred to as a prenatal or postnatal massage, pregnancy massage therapy can be received after the first trimester of pregnancy. The mother receives the session in a side-lying position with pillows and bolsters provided for support and maximum comfort. Please consult with your doctor prior to booking this service.

Labor Support.

This specialized service is offered to assist mothers-to-be in active labor. After doctors administer the medications used to promote contractions, the mother is given gentle massage to help facilitate relaxation and relieve stress and tension. This includes two follow-up visits after the birth. These can be booked in half-day or full-day sessions.
